< Affectionate;; Since Riven has spent a decent amount of his life in a mental facility, he tends to absolutely adore recieving physical affection, whether that be a hug or a kiss or simply a ruffle of his hair, and when he happens to like someone, he will trip over himself to try to show them how he feels about them, often clinging to them or nuzzling them or even trying to kiss them from time to time - as if to apologize for the fact that he will no doubt attempt to hurt them at one point or another trying to taste their blood. < Submissive;; Once the need for blood has been satisfied, Riven is actually quite content to let someone else set the pace, following along with what other people want and trying to please them, especially if there's a chance that he can receive a bit of physical affection in return. < Upstanding;; Riven has quite a strong moral compass, a firm stickler for right and wrong, and that trait is actually what partially leads to his absolute submissiveness around others and his protective behavior towards those he cares about, driven by a sense of guilt for asking them to supply blood to satisfy his psychological need for it. < Determined;; Though some would no doubt call it stubbornness, when Riven has gotten something in his head, neither hell nor high water will alter him from the path he chooses to take, and it is this grit that has led him to try to solve his parents' murder case when the police have given up on it, regardless of what he might have to do in order to accomplish that. < Faithful;; Sure, Riven can be a little manipulative at times, but only about things he cares passionately about, and considering how much he treasures the people close to him, it's not an uncommon sight for him to insist that someone he likes is going to do such and such for him even if everyone but him recognizes it as a false promise. < Adorable;; Whether it's peeking up at someone through his bangs with wide eyes or perking up like a kid on Christmas morning when promised something he wants, Riven is without a doubt quite cute, and trait can make him quite an appealing treat for someone who's willing to let the Fighter into their life. > Masochistic;; Rather surprisingly given that his clinical vampirism compels him to drink human blood every two weeks, Riven actually takes a good deal of pleasure out of being hurt, and while he would not intentionally hurt himself or others, he would by no means protest if he got hurt, and he actually finds the contrast of crimson blood on his own pale skin arousing. > Unpredictable;; Although Riven is, for the most part, rather subdued and often quite content to curl up like a cat and enjoy having affection bestowed upon him, the man also has some violent tendencies in him, which most poignantly come out when he thinks his "need" for blood is not going to be fulfilled when his clinical vampirism needs it to be, and he isn't afraid to act out to get that blood. > Cunning;; Contrary to the expectations of many and despite being a patient in a mental hospital and officially diagnosed with clinical vampirism, Riven is quite intelligent, just as capable of making use of his knowledge as anyone else, and he's not afraid to use his mind to his advantage if it will get him something he wants or needs. > Obsessive;; As might be expected from a clinical vampire, Riven orients his entire being around his "need" to have blood, though he will also display the same kind of intensity when it comes to things he feels passionately about, refusing to let anything else affect him while he follows the notion in question. > Single-minded;; When Riven has gotten a particular idea in his head, he doesn't often deviate from that idea, his mind focusing upon that one thing to the exclusion of all others - a trait imparted to him as "treatment" rather than something he naturally picked up - and as a result, he fares poorly when it comes to multitasking, unable to concentrate beyond the job immediately at hand. > Possessive;; Once Riven has been given something, or the promise of something, he tends not to let go, and if someone tries to remove it, especially when he hasn't given permission for someone to take it, he tends to flip out, reacting with either tears and extreme disappointment or stubborn violence depending upon what it was. |

> Riven could probably handle having a job. He is certainly intelligent enough for it: his one drawback, however, is that he is a patient at a mental hospital and thus is unemployed. He hopes to one day be able to become a detective, however. > Riven is the Fighter for the unit ------ with one --------. His unit name has not yet appeared on his body, but when it does, it shall appear on his -----------. > Riven is charming and suave. He looks attractive, mismatched eyes aside. So why is it that he still has a pair of ears perched on his head? Simple. Because in addition to being extremely into bloodplay, the male also is a clinical vampire, hence why he is kept in a mental ward. Sex has never been an option in his life, though if asked, he is homosexual. < Riven has a pathological fear of thunderstorms. He's not sure exactly why they scare him, but as soon as the rain starts pouring down and the thunder starts booming, terror strikes him and it's all he can do to find someone or something to hold onto and shake against as he rides it out - and if he isn't lucky enough to be given someone, he ends up finding somewhere that he considers safe, such as inside a couch or a closet, and curling up in a ball and waiting for the gods to stop being angry at each other, or at least, to not notice him and turn on him in their wrath. < Riven was born normal. He had a normal family, his parents a cop and a lawyer, and his younger brother Drake - two years younger - was just as normal as he was. The two children had an unremarkable childhood while their parents were there. They grew up in an average house in Clearwater, not spoiled but not neglected either. The main oddity was that some children would pick on him for his heterochromania, but he didn't let it get to him, so the teasing stopped after a year or two with nothing to show for it. It was only once his parents were taken from him that things began to go horribly wrong. People thought it was a home invasion. The police labeled it a tragedy, a theft turned into a murder. But the fact was that the three elder Stormfalls were in their home, eight-year-old Drake at a sleep-away camp for the next month, and four masked men broke in. What exactly happened next, however, is a mystery since Riven refused to talk about it and claims to have no memory of that time. But what the police do know for sure was that the perpetrators remained in the house for three days with Riven while his parents were tied up in the basement. Some speculate that this was when the boy was first made to drink blood, doing so from his parents, and over the course of three weeks - they took the young boy with them when they left, hoping to gain a new member in their pack - they began brainwashing him into thinking that killing was acceptable and that other people's pain was nothing to be concerned about. He was rescued when a good Samaritan recognized him from the news and called the police. He was recovered from an empty house that had been listed as abandoned, quiet and manageable when he was reunited with his brother at an orphanage since there was no next-of-kin that could take the two. The trail went cold then, and within a year the case was put on a shelf, left to gather dust. The orphanage that had taken them - located in the United States near a kindly uncle who would visit them on occasion - then began reporting some strange happenings. Boys would wake up with cuts on their arms and no idea how they got there. The hysteria was catching, especially when some of the girls began to fall victim to the occurrence as well. The caretaker, however, suspected that a child was involved given the fact that all the victims had not had their ears removed as well, and when patrols were posted, the culprit was soon discovered. A shamefaced Riven with his white nightshirt - it had originally belonged to his father and he was permitted to wear it as a comforting gesture - covered in blood was found with a bloody knife from the kitchen sitting on the floor drinking from a girl's wrist. Horrified, the caretaker turned the boy over to the psychiatrists, who pronounced him under some type of post-traumatic stress disorder from his ordeal and prescribed some medication. But that did nothing to stop him, and within a month, he lost control of himself and attacked his own brother screaming about how he needed to have a taste and how blood needed to be repaid with blood. At that point, the orphanage realized that they were not equipped to deal with someone like Riven, and shunted him off to an asylum. Between the age of eleven and fourteen, Riven was pushed from doctor to doctor and kept in solitary confinement because, when deprived of blood, he would get violent in his attempts to obtain it. And then, when he was fifteen, the doctors made a discovery. Even though they could not wean the boy off his psychological need for blood entirely, they could convince him that he didn't need to feed every few days or whenever he could. They made a deal that he could have a teaspoon of blood every two weeks, and this was an agreement that Riven accepted quietly. After this, he did not need to be placed in solitary confinement, though many of his roommates would complain about his odd habits, and thus he more or less ended up rooming with himself. Aside from his habit of drinking blood, he seemed just as normal as anyone else, so when he turned eighteen, his doctor gave him the contact that the clinic had been using to obtain blood from the Red Cross and then discharged him. Within three years, though, an alarming trend had popped up that left Drake with no choice but to take his older brother back to the clinic. At the age of twenty-one, Riven should have been a functioning member of society. And he was. The problem, however, was his choice of intimate habits. If he didn't obtain blood on what he felt was a decent basis, he would become wheedling and resort to any means necessary to obtain a few mouthfuls. He had intentionally tried to harm other people to satisfy this urge, though he had managed to control himself before any real harm was done. He expressed extremely violent imaginings, and the one time that he had obtained a boyfriend in that time period, they broke up after six months because, apparently, when the two attempted to have sex, Riven had turned a kitchen knife on his boyfriend and attempted to cut up his chest. Primarily because of the latter event - which was fit the doctor's description of a relapse right down to a 'T' - Drake had no choice but to take Riven back to the asylum. Doctors poked and probed at the edges of the man's psyche, searching for a way to "cure" him, but whenever they seemed to be getting close, Riven would clam up. He refused to delve into what happened for that time he was kidnapped, and the hostility he showed both to the psychiatrists and to the police for not catching the ones responsible was enough to justify keeping him for the next four years. When Drake was twenty-four, however, he decided that he didn't want to live in the United States anymore. He wanted to go back to Clearwater, where he could hopefully be able to find his other half. Unfortunately, however, that meant that he would have to take Riven with him since the younger could more easily manage his older brother than almost anyone else. Riven was placed into a small mental ward on the island, but the change of location had done something to the male that no one had thought possible. He was there only three months before he started yelling that he wanted to talk to the police. His memories were coming back, and though the pieces were slow in coming and notoriously jagged and unhelpful, they were still a better lead than what the case had had in years. However, no one was listening. The police didn't care about solving a twelve-year-old murder when the perpetrators didn't seem to have made any trouble since then; they thought those responsible were already dead anyway, and if the family had already moved on, what was the point of continuing just to try to give them closure? But the thing was, Riven hadn't moved on. He wanted to drag those responsible into the light, regardless of whatever it took to do so, and that meant that he had to restrain himself. He would have to fake a recovery in order to get released so that he could obtain the case files to pursue his parents' killers and his own abductors. He hasn't managed to make an impression yet, but if he gets his way, he'll find a doctor who will buy his act and let him free soon. |
